ETNOBOTANY LORE AND ANCIENT PARTICLES
The citrus aurantium tree is evergreen and native of southern China and India. It acutally gives three different oils: Neroli from its flowers, Petitgrain from its leaves, and Bitter Orange from the fruit peel. The tree was first cultivated by the Arabs in the tenth and eleventh centuries. The oil became to be distilled in the early sixteenth century and owes its name to seventeenth century Italian Princess of Nerola - Anna Maria de La Tremoille - who wore the oil in her gloves. In herbal medicine, the flowers were traditionally used to treat gastrointestinal issues, gout, nervous conditions, sore throat, and insomnia.
